Now that you have PQD for Mac installed and configured, it's time to get to work. This document will walk you through how to select your template, add, edit your drawings and save your drawings as new, to build out your library of plays.
Select Template
- On the ribbon bar, click the Select Template button
- The Select Template dialog box will appear, there you will choose the template library from the dropdown (if you have more than 1 loaded), select the template you would like to use and click the Select button
Add Drawing
- On the PQD Sidebar, Select the proper library where you want to add the drawing from, then select your drawing and either double-click on the drawing, or single-click and click the Add button
Save Drawing As New
- Select the drawing on the slide by single-clicking on the drawing, click the Save As button
- Give the drawing a new name in the Name Name text box and click the Save button
- Click the Open Microsoft PowerPoint button
- This opens the newly named drawing in a new PowerPoint window, edit your drawing to match the name and close PowerPoint drawing window
- You should now be back to your normal slide deck, to see the new drawing on the sidebar, simply refresh the sidebar by double-clicking on the current library folder. Now you should see the new drawing in the sidebar to select
Edit Drawing
- Add a drawing slide deck by using your library and the PQD Sidebar
- Select the drawing on the slide by single-clicking on the drawing, click the Edit button
- Click the Open Microsoft PowerPoint button
- Once the drawing window appears, edit your drawing as needed, then close drawing PowerPoint window. You should see your changes automatically appear.
Create Drawing
- Follow the original steps to Save As a new drawing. Add a drawing using the PQD sidebar, by selecting the drawing in the PQD sidebar and using a double-click on the drawing name or single-click on the name and then clicking the Add button
- Select the drawing on the slide by single-clicking on the drawing, click the Save As button
- Give the drawing a new name in the Name Name text box, change the Folder location if it belongs in a different folder, for example, pass plays or run plays by click the 3-dot button
- Select the new folder in the directory tree and click the Select button
- Click the Save button
- Click the Open Microsoft PowerPoint button
- This opens the newly named drawing in a new PowerPoint window
Draw Using PQD Shapes Library
- In the drawing PowerPoint window, Click on the Show Panel button on the ribbon bar
- Once the PQD Sidebar loads, click the Shapes Library button
- Select the Shapes Library that you have loaded
- Click the Open Microsoft PowerPoint button
- Select the shape you want from the library and right-click and select copy or hit cmd+C
- Go back to your drawing PowerPoint window and right-click to paste the shape or hit cmd+V
- Now you simply click and drag to put it in place
- You can resize it just like any other image or change the shape weight or make it a dash line by selecting the Shape Outline button on the ribbon bar
- To send the shape to the back behind your position shapes right-click and select Send to Back ot hit cmd+Shift+B on the keyboard
Draw Using PowerPoint Freeform Tool
- Once you have your shape line weight, you want to set it as your default shape so you dont have to change each shape weight and other details one by one. To do that, single-click on the shape that you have set to what you want, right-click on it and select Set as Default Shape
- Select the Freeform drawing tool, but clicking Insert on the ribbon bar, then click Shapes, the click on the Freeform tool
- Now you start drawing your shape but using a single-click to make the start of the line and a single-click to designate different points of the line and finally a double-click to end the line drawing
- You can also create curved lines but using the Freeform tool to create the design and then using the Edit Points option to manipulate the curve
- Start creating your Freeform shape using the single-click method
- End the drawing by using the double-click method
- With the shape selected, right-click on it and select Edit Points from the menu
- You will then notice the shape change and show you the shape anchors
- Double-click on an anchor and you will now see the white anchor boxes to start changing the shape to make it look as perfect as you want
- Click and drag on the white anchor boxes to change the shape until you get it just right
- Once you have your drawing complete, simply close that PowerPoint window to go back to your main slide deck
- Once back on your main slide deck, on your PQD Sidebar, navigate to your play library where you saved the new drawing, select the new drawing and click the Add button and your new drawing should appear
